Working Principle of Ram Pump Dispensing Machine

The ram pump dispensing machine is specially designed for ultra-high viscosity paste adhesives, silicone, thermal grease and potting compounds. It consists of a ram plate feeding unit, volumetric metering pump, high-pressure tubing, dispensing valve and PLC control system.

Ultra-high viscosity adhesive has poor fluidity and is hard to be sucked by ordinary pressure tanks. The ram plate driven by pneumatic cylinder or servo motor presses down into the original 5-gallon glue drum, squeezing the paste adhesive and forcing material into the inlet of metering pump.

1. Load the original glue drum into the machine frame.
2. The ram plate descends, its outer sealing ring tightly fits the drum wall to isolate air and prevent bubble ingress & surface curing of adhesive.
3. Continuous downward pressure from ram plate overcomes high viscosity resistance, pushing adhesive steadily into the metering pump. The ram plate descends synchronously as glue is consumed to maintain stable feeding pressure.
4. Servo motor drives volumetric pump (progressive cavity screw pump / piston pump). Output volume is linearly controlled by motor speed. Pressure sensor provides closed-loop feedback to compensate pressure fluctuation for consistent, pulse-free dispensing.
5. Adhesive flows through high-pressure hose to dispensing valve. The valve opens/closes to start and stop dispensing for potting, sealing or coating.
6. Low glue level alarm triggers, ram plate lifts up for drum replacement.
